About Julia
How would you briefly describe your gameplay style?
I am a 14 year old setter with the versatility to play rightside hitter and defensive specialist(DS). My strengths are my smooth, consistent hands, high volleyball IQ, and ability to make smart decisions under pressure. I move well defensively, stay quick on my feet, and take pride in being a dependable teammate who leads, communicates, and does whatever it takes to help my team succeed.
Can you provide a brief description of your mentality or personality?
I am a mentally strong and coachable player with a "next point" mindset. I stay composed under pressure, compete with confidence, and enjoy challenging myself against strong competition. As a setter, I lead by example through my work ethic, communication, and positive attitude while supporting my teammates on and off the court. I am disciplined in my daily routines and committed to improving.
Are you involved in any clubs, organizations, or have you received any non-sport awards?
I have played the cello since I was in third grade and currently perform in my schools's highest level orchestra. I earned Second Chair in AYPO and was selected for my school district orchestra. I also volunteer with the Special Olympics, helping athletes with disabilities learn and enjoy the game of volleyball.
What skills or qualities have you developed, such as leadership, teamwork, or community service?
Through volleyball, orchestra, and community service, I have developed strong leadership, teamwork, communication, and time management skills. As a setter, I lead by example, support my teammates, and stay composed under pressure. I have assisted my former 5th grade teacher at my elementary school, experiences that strengthened my patience, responsibility, and commitment to serving others.
Have you faced any significant challenges? If so, please describe.
One of the biggest challenges I have faced is balancing competitive volleyball and my schoolwork, while maintaining a strong work ethic. I also experienced a thumb injury, which temporarily limited my training, but I stayed committed to my recovery and worked hard to catch back up. I have learned to embrace challenges as opportunities to grow both on and off the court.
What type of college are you looking for?
I am looking for a college that has a strong volleyball program and strong academic opportunities in pre med. I want a school where I can compete at a high level, grow as a student athlete, pursue a challenging academic path that prepares e for a future in the medical field.
