For the high school season the biggest question was what position she was going to play. For club she played up for Metro and suited as a libero. For Madison they chose to have her hit outside. In the end she became one of the more potent attackers on a team that got to the semifinals of the state championship. Even as a frosh Laila was one of the team captains and was usually identified as the floor captain. That defines leadership. Laila got voted to the Concorde District first team and earned a spot on the Class 6 state second team. She reminds me a lot of Mailinh Godschall now with Metro 18, who hit outside for her Centennial high school team to lead them to a Maryland state championship this year and suits up as a libero for Metro. Laila jumped from 4 to 3 in this 2027 class.
