Plenty of talented prospects in the Iowa 2027 Class remain uncommitted to colleges despite showing the ability to play on that level. Montez fits in that category. She’s a fighter in the back row that’s continued working hard on her game, which has led to steady improvement annually. And there’s plenty of room for more growth, which should be exciting for a next-level program appreciative of her game. I’ve seen Montez a couple of times this club season wearing the jersey for Rockets 16R. An ability to read the attack and learn as a match goes on are strengths. Montez moves well laterally and covers a lot of the court, laying all out when it’s needed. She brings excellent energy to the court, is encouraging of teammates and keeps a team connected. Montez led Muscatine with 270 digs last fall, adding 75 assists, which illustrated that she can deliver the two ball on the money at the pin.

I watched Montez play last club season. She’s improved her consistency a great deal since then and has become very steady. Montez competes hard and hustles. She reads the attack well, which aids her in being the right position. Montez is a gamer that does whatever her team needs to win. That’s evidence by her accumulating 371 assists, 93 kills and 120 digs for Muscatine last season.

Montez displayed some big skills and serious grit on the court. She was especially impressive on serve receive, passing effectively off her midline and delivering passes repeatedly to target. This allowed her offense to stay in system and take home the first place hardware. Her defense was also very good. She reads the opposing teams setter and offense well. She positions herself correctly and picked up numerous dumps and tips and effective dug hard sharp cross shots.
