Guilherme Torres | Prep Dig Scout
With Sims and Barrow out, the junior outside hitter embraced the responsibility of leading Bridgeland’s offense and had a strong performance at the net. Rachal’s leaping ability consistently put her in good spots to score points at the pin and she displayed excellent vision and good variation to register an impressive 15 kills out of her 20 swings, some of them in out-of-system plays. Rachal was also very consistent and made only one error despite her high usage rate. She also did a great job in serve-receive, leading the Bears with 19 passes, and had the team’s third-best mark of eight digs despite only playing the front row rotations.

The sophomore played a big role in Bridgeland’s offense, standing out as their most reliable hitter in the match, leaving the court with 17 kills to her name. Except for a brief moment on set three, Rachal kept a strong offensive form, using her power to deliver impressive swings, but also tooling the block and scoring off tips. She was also very versatile and dynamic, hitting combination plays in the middle and swinging from the middle back position as well. Her passing is still a work in progress, but it’s easy to see how much more comfortable and efficient she is with it now, having registered 22 actions against Cy Ranch.

The sophomore outside hitter was Bridgeland’s most consistent player, performing at a high level from start to finish. Rachal was very productive offensively, tallying 12 kills, and displayed great vision and variation with her shots. She was also alert at the net and handled very well a couple of overpasses that went her way. Rachal had a few minor struggles with her passing, but was fine in serve-receive for most of the match.

A class of 2027 prospect, Rachal will be playing one age group up with Texas Legacy 16 Elite in the 16 Open division. We first took a look at her during one of our Freshman Showcases last summer and saw the potential for her to develop into a solid player, especially on the offensive side of the game. That was confirmed shortly after that as she earned significant playing time at a strong Bridgeland team as a freshman during the high school season. Rachal is extremely physical and uses that to her advantage at the net. She makes contact with the ball at a very high point and is never afraid to swing hard to overpower blockers. Rachal is effective at either pin and has good resources to avoid blockers.

Rachal was one of the outside hitters that got the most attention from those in attendance because of her very complete game. She wasn’t the tallest player on the court, but is extremely athletic and that was of big help for her, especially on offense. Rachal jumps really well and has excellent body control, which allows her to adjust to sets and to take an extra second to look at the block before making a decision. She also connects really well with the ball in her swing, getting great precision in her shots. Rachal also displayed good ball control and technical skills, doing a good job on the backcourt as well.
