About Kaelyn

How would you briefly describe your gameplay style?

One word I would use to describe my gameplay style is scrappy.

Can you provide a brief description of your mentality or personality?

I am really good dealing with my frustration when messing up without bringing down the energy of my team. After a play, whether good or bad I am able to acknowledge what happened and then move on to the next point whether my part was good or bad. I feel that I am a very coach able player and can adapt to instruction.

Are you involved in any clubs, organizations, or have you received any non-sport awards?

Yes, I am apart of the NJHS community.

What skills or qualities have you developed, such as leadership, teamwork, or community service?

I feel that I am a great presence on the court, helping teammates through anger, frustration, communication and much more.

Have you faced any significant challenges? If so, please describe.

Yes, a very significant challenge i have faced is my height. I am a 5’4 outside with a high vertical.

What type of college are you looking for?

I’m looking for a college who is willing to adapt to an undersized outside hitter who still has the vertical of a tall hitter.

She plays for Brooke Point and surprisingly is listed as captain. Brooke Point had a rough going this past year finishing 3-17 but seeing a frosh listed as captain intrigued me. So I watched some of her video.

At 5’5″ she is quite a bit undersized to play outside even if her approach jump is 9’2″. It is in the blocking skill where it really makes a difference. However, when you watch her video she plays a mean back row. Scrappy is a good word to describe her. She digs anything within a short radius of her. She also has a very quiet platform for passing.

Kaelyn will play for Libero. While listed as an outside unless some growth occurs I expect she will eventually move to a libero role.
