Holthaus has always been solid but when I saw her playing at the Gauntlet in June she was just lights out. She does not shy away from pressure and while her movement was only one spot since the last update it’s a big move when you are already in the top 5. Holthaus has a great all-around game and shows it in every play. She is a consistent first contact and can finish a play from the front row or back row. The Summit League had better brace themselves for Holthaus coming in 2025.

Holthaus makes a big impact for her teams with her versatility. She has length, power, and she is smooth moving on the court. Holthaus provides a steady first contact and takes a number of different shots to help her team win the point.

Holthaus is an attacker that is fast, elevates quickly, and can pound multiple angles and shots. I like her quick footwork and power she demonstrates in every rally. It’s no wonder she was picked up by South Dakota.

Holthaus was a player with a lot of raw potential and athleticism and I think this was a really big year of growth for her. Last September she was named as a Maxpreps AVCA MN Player of the Week and followed that by making the Northern Light 16-1 squad in November. Holthaus was named to the JVA Watchlist and then this past week committed to play at Division 1 South Dakota with NL teammate,

Kate is a 6-rotation right side and an offensive weapon. She has a lethal swing out of both the front and back row. Kate is always an option for her setter and is a g0-to hitter. She puts up a huge block and has great timing. Kate gets a lot of touches on blocks and a good number of stuff blocks as well. She impressed me at the Gauntlet.

Holthaus has been learning the ropes of setting at Northern Lights this season but I think in true form she is still a right side. She does a nice job of working different angles in her attack and seeing the offosing defense. As she gets more comfortable in the setting position she should develop into a really dynamic player.

Holthaus is crazy athletic and it shows when she is a starting outside hitter in high school and then also sets in the club season. She is such a crucial utlity player that can do just about anything. It was no surprise that Holthaus was named the September 26th Maxpreps AVCA MN Player of the Week. I’m looking forward to seeing Holthaus live at the Northern Lights Qualifier, Show Me Qualifier, Prep Dig Gauntlet, and USAV Girls Junior National Championships.
