About Katie

How would you briefly describe your gameplay style?

As a DS/L I feel like I constantly show communication and hustle no matter what. I make sure to know my responsibility and pursue every single ball and read every ball.I give my best passes under any circumstances to my setter to allow them to work the offense, but if a ball goes out of system I also give my offense an accurate ball to hit.

Can you provide a brief description of your mentality or personality?

My mentality is always positive I never let a score or bad play get to me because I know mistakes can happen and all I need to do is focus on the next ball. My personality consists of being a fearless, creative, courageous, joyful, and genuine person.

Are you involved in any clubs, organizations, or have you received any non-sport awards?

Im involved in in for the long run which is a club that helps those with disabilities and create fun activities for them. Im also involved in student ambassador club which is students from other school shadow me and I show them around my school and give them information about the school. I usually receive high honor roll and honor roll awards at school.

What skills or qualities have you developed, such as leadership, teamwork, or community service?

Being on many different teams allowed me to create better teamwork with different types of teams people and helped me create better communication. Doing community service helped me take more responsibility and build more leadership which helped me grow a lot more on the court.

Have you faced any significant challenges? If so, please describe.

I recently went through a mental block because on my freshman team I saw everyone around me getting better and I felt stuck because I felt I wasn’t improving. I was stuck in this mental block for a while and thought I wouldn’t be able to become something better. I overcame this challenge because I started seeing on social media girls with the same struggle and saw there progress on getting better.

What type of college are you looking for?

I’m looking for a college preferably in Chicago since I love cities and it’s close to home. I want a college that has a good finance or business program and has a good reputation in the education. I also want a college that has great culture and a social environment .
