Springy and quick with a hammer for a right shoulder, Emily can hit all the angles with pace in every situation. Keeping the ball in front of her on the attack, her ability to read the court and take what the defense gives her sets her apart from other pin attackers in this class. Don’t look at her size as a deterrent; her jumping ability more than makes up for it, and watching her set solid blocks regularly is proof of that fact. I like quick kids on the pins—-they can adjust to less-than-perfect sets, and know what to do when a point is needed.

Already earning all-tournament honors this spring, Emily is a hard-hitting, high-flying right side who hits the heaviest ball on this roster. Able to hit from either pin with equal aggression and success, I have admittedly listed Miss Noto FAR too low in this rankings list—-she should see a marked improvement in that number next to “IN” in her profile sooner rather than later because of her strength and her high volleyball IQ.

Springy and tough, Emily’s ability to get up and score points on both offense and defense has you thinking twice about her actual height. As the smallest pure attacker on this list, Miss Noto uses her whiplike arm swing as a weapon, and can adjust to mediocre setting with quick footwork. I like her blocking as well—-she reads and sets some of the best right side blocks in any class, and is athletic enough to make up for being late. With a high volleyball IQ and a relentless motor, Emily will be fun to watch evolve into one of the top right sides northern Indiana has seen in quite some time.

I realize I’m listing two different Penn kids in the same article, but hear me out. With Riley, you get high and hard and a passion for volleyball. With Emily, it’s a jumping ability that’s second to none in this class. She’s a right side during the fall, but is capable of attacking from either pin. Her whip of an arm hitting all angles and terminating at will was her calling card this fall, with views of the next level already in sight.
