About Kayla

How would you briefly describe your gameplay style?

I’m Kayla Nguyen, a Class of 2029 pin hitter who loves competing at a high level. I’m known for my power, smart shot choices, & ability to contribute in all six rotations. Academics matter a lot to me; I’m driven to play for a college program that challenges me in the classroom & on the court. I’m looking for a team that feels like family—one built on culture, & pushing each other to be better.

Can you provide a brief description of your mentality or personality?

I’m a fierce competitor who brings passion, energy, and positivity to every match. I love leveling up and pushing myself, but I’m just as driven to celebrate my teammates and win together as a family.

Are you involved in any clubs, organizations, or have you received any non-sport awards?

Interact Club, National Honors Society, and received Volleyball All Conference 2024, All Conference for Soccer 2024 and All Conference for Flag Football 2024. Received the Triple Threat Award for Fletcher Middle School 2025

What skills or qualities have you developed, such as leadership, teamwork, or community service?

I’m a committed leader on and off the court—someone who supports others, communicates clearly, and leads by example. I tutor younger students and stay active in community service through Interact Club, where I love giving back and being part of projects that make a positive impact.

Have you faced any significant challenges? If so, please describe.

I started club volleyball later because I grew up competing in multiple sports, & my parents—both former college players—wanted me to find my own passion. Over time, I realized volleyball was the sport I truly loved, & I committed fully to it while also playing QB in flag football. Even though I entered organized club play later than some athletes, I’ve been learning the game since I was little.

What type of college are you looking for?

I’m looking for a highly competitive program with a strong community culture and a balance of top-level academics and athletics. I want to be part of a team that values hard work, connection and allows me to pursue an academic path—potentially in political science or pre-law— and compete at the highest level of volleyball.
