How would you briefly describe your gameplay style?

Steady and consistent with strong fundamentals and a high volleyball IQ. A composed team leader who leads by example, supports teammates, and stays calm under pressure. Reliable in defense, serve-receive, and game situations.

Can you provide a brief description of your mentality or personality?

Competitive and driven with a strong team-first mindset. Stays composed under pressure, adapts well to challenges, and leads by example both on and off the court. Hardworking, reliable, and committed to continual improvement.

Are you involved in any clubs, organizations, or have you received any non-sport awards?

I am an active member of my school's pickleball club and participates in the political discourse club. These activities help me build teamwork, strategic thinking, and communication skills outside of volleyball.

What skills or qualities have you developed, such as leadership, teamwork, or community service?

Through my experiences, I've developed leadership, teamwork, and a sense of community. This summer, I volunteered at a volleyball camp at our school, participated in reading to children at a less fortunate school, and helped with food bank collections and holiday Christmas drive. These experiences have really made me really appreciate what I have and inspired me to give back.

Have you faced any significant challenges? If so, please describe.

One significate challenge I've faced is transitioning from being homeschooled to attending a highly academic, prestigious high school in ninth grade. Adjusting to a new environment, more rigorous coursework, and new social dynamics has pushed me to become more adaptable, disciplined, and confident in myself.

What type of college are you looking for?

I'm looking for a college where I can continue to develop as a student-athlete, contribute to a competitive volleyball program, and grow academically in a supportive and challenging environment. I value school that emphasizes teamwork, personal growth, and community involvement.

Avery Hummel Avery Hummel 5'7" | DS/L Berkeley Prep | 2029 State FL was the kind of defender who was always around the ball. She was good at reading hitters, balanced through contact, and always had quality first touches that kept her team in system. What I liked most about her is the ability to take away balls that look like easy points and turn difficult defensive plays into transition opportunities.
