We had to give a nod to Maize South’s defensive anchor. The Mavericks have already garnered a couple of mentions in our 2027 features, and we couldn’t pass up the chance to discuss the program’s stout libero. Nash logged nearly 400 digs last fall, cementing her spot among the top defenders in the Wichita area. Her quick feet and stable platform translated to another great season with Shockwave 17 Black, which sparred at the Open level this spring.

Shockwave brought plenty of talent to last year’s KS/MO Showcase, so we’re eager to catch up with players like Nash around the Kansas scene. This Maize South junior has soared in Year 3 with the Mavericks, producing 4.1 digs per set and a bevy of quality passes for her setter. Being a defensive specialist in a showcase environment is tough, but Nash’s flexibility made her a flawless fit for the Prep Dig Circuit.

Nash played good defense on the day along the back row. The area of her game that stood out was her command and ability to pass the second ball. Her placement was good and you can tell she has experience as a setter, keeping the ball in play for her hitters.
