Sturgeon has used her club experience to come in and execute like an experienced player. She takes minimal steps to balls and has great range. While Sturgeon makes flashy plays, she most importantly makes the simple two to three-point passes to help the Tigers get into a good offensive flow. Sturgeon sticks her arms out to keep balls alive and showed she can handle well-struck crosses effectively. Sturgeon also puts aggressive jump float serves to different zones on the court. Sturgeon said she and her sister are both competitive so when Beechwood plays Holy Cross, Sturgeon said she wants to play well to prove she’s just as good as Avery.

Sturgeon showed a lot of promise during club season. Sturgeon is super consistent on serve reception and defense. Sturgeon reads hitters well and does what she can to beat balls to their destinations on the floor. Sturgeon forms walls around balls using a superb platform. Sturgeon closes seams quickly and does not seem phased if teams try to wear her out by constantly serving to her. Sturgeon makes quality sets when the team is out of system. Sturgeon provides nice net backup and moves over quickly to handle set-overs.

Sturgeon has played a big role as the libero for 14-1 Case to a 14 Open title in the UA Players Championship in Louisville and a 14 National crown in the Ohio Valley Region-Mizuno 11-15s Bid Tournament in Columbus. Sturgeon displays consistency on the court with first passes on both serve reception and defensively. Sturgeon only dives when necessary, yet stays under control. Sturgeon steps to balls then stops in her tracks to make smooth passes to help 14-1 Case jumpstart its offensive rhythm.
