Armstrong is an active middle with good physicality in how she moves and competes at the net through her three rotations. Competing with a strong team comprised of Ohio and Kentucky athletes, she can make an impact on both sides of the ball. Her assertiveness on offense increases her command of the ball, which forces opposing middles to pay attention to her. When on time in the air, she can swing with range and good power. Defensively, her agility from pin to pin helps apply a lot of pressure to opposing hitters.

Armstrong (pictured) has used her size well all season to help the Tigers control the net and did so again. Armstrong waits for hitters to go up then launches up with good timing. Armstrong is one of several hitters Estep can rely on to put balls down. Armstrong is very coachable. Armstrong said the next ball mentality is good whether you win or lose that ball. Armstrong added volleyball is a game of mistakes so it’s important to have the mind of a goldfish, learning from mistakes and moving on.

Armstrong disrupted the net in both Beechwood wins with sound timing on her blocks against solid hitters. Armstrong also took great swings to power balls through and by double blocks. Armstrong is not afraid to back off the net to make crisp first passes when the opponent sends over free balls or hits roll shots. Armstrong said it was a matter of just playing Beechwood’s game.

Armstong dominates the front row when the team is in rhythm. Armstrong pounds balls down hard, especially on the ones and 32s. Armstrong also puts balls off blockers on the slide routes. Armstong puts more power into balls running hard toward the net and angling her body to hit balls to the sides of blockers. Armstrong sends balls to corners and other parts of the court. She is also a sound solo and double blocker.
