I know at this point we are all aware of Kyla Ramler Kyla Ramler 6'1" | MB/OH Western Dubuque | 2027 State IA ‘s skills, but I obviously have to put her on this list. Ramler has been guiding Western Dubuque to success so far this season and has kept them in that #3 spot. She has proven to be an offensive threat no matter where she is on the court or who’s blocking her. Her ability to gain power through her approach and find ways to get through and around the block is incredible. I am extremely excited to see how Ramler contributes to the Redbird program next fall.

Ramler has steadily improved as a volleyball player and has taken a giant leap forward during the last year. The Western Dubuque standout rose from 62 to 20 in the last Prep Dig Iowa Class of 2027 rankings update. Now, the Illinois State commitment has jumped up to No. 12 in the new edition of the rundown. Ramler is a versatile performer at the net. I’ve watched her excel in the middle, on the right side and at the pin. Athleticism, power and explosion lead to her ability to stand out at multiple positions. Ramler is the leading returnee on a Bobcat team that brings back a lot of production around her. It won’t be easy taking down larger schools in the MVC, but with Ramler leading the attack and protecting the net defensively, there’s an opportunity for a special season.

Kyla is one of the highest rated middles in Iowa, but the funny thing is she didn’t even stand out to me for that at first, that came later. What jumped out at me was in warm ups, while serving she had a serve that was consistently slicing down and away towards the left corner. It got me thinking, what’s the next evolution in VB? What’s the next evolution in serving? The float is so tough to play, it’s probably the most prevalent in the game. Top spin is tough to master, but has so much sharp movement, it’s nasty. This though reminded me of ping pong, where they spin the ball and it just barely catches the corner of the table. Moving away from the lib, and handcuffing any DS in that corner, it would be incredibly tough to play if it was done intentionally. I hope that she keeps working at it and masters how she was doing it, because she could literally change the game with it. And that’s not to speak of her fantastic ability at middle. Strong, adjusts well in the air on offense and defense, this kid is trouble for other teams.

Iowa Select 17 Mizuno’s championship-winning lineup isn’t complete without this D1-bound middle blocker. Ramler is an electric terminator in the middle and has made her mark on the prep side with Western Dubuque. She gets off the floor quickly, has a ton of range on the slide, and will hustle in transition to make herself available. Illinois State has a good one coming from the Class of 2027.
