Expert Analysis
Guilherme Torres | Prep Dig Scout
College Park’s towering middle was a key piece for her team, appearing well on both sides of the ball. Offensively, her size and power were often too much to opponents as Tinnell got to score at a good rate for her team and got the ball in important moments. She hit several different plays down the middle, was very effective at the slide and even got set on the left in one rotation, showing interesting skills to put the ball down there too. Her big, aggressive blocking was also a factor for her team, getting stops and slowing opponents down.

A junior, Tinnell has been a big part of College Park’s success in the last couple of years and will have an even larger role in 2024. Not many middles are capable of dominating the game in the way she does and that makes of her an extremely valuable asset to have in such a competitive district. Tinnell is among the most physical players in the region and she knows how to use her size and athleticism to make an impact on both sides of the ball at the net, blocking aggressively and swinging with power. As she becomes more and more important to her team, Tinnell has been hitting from the left too, so she can be available even in out-of-system plays as well.

Tinnell emerged as one of the most promising middles in the region last season and, judging by her performance this past weekend with 17s division winners Houston Skyline 16 Royal, has only gotten better. Very physical and smart, she continues to be a force at the net on both sides of the ball, but at the Legends Classic #1 she got to display some nice improvement in her all-around game. Tinnell became more of a threat from the service line and got some good touches on defense, besides also passing at a good level when she was used as a right side during the day.

I first saw Tinnell very early in the season, in a pre-season high school tournament, and her insane potential was very evident. It all starts with her impressive 6’4″ frame, but at that point, she was already more mobile and had a better understanding of the game than many would expect. Tinnell’s game only got better over the last few months and she became a key player in a Houston Skyline 15 Royal team that’s among the very best in the state in the age group. She’s a middle that is very productive on both sides of the ball, hitting and blocking at a very high level. She has tremendous reach and power, but also incredible vision in her offense. When blocking, Tinnell moves well at the net and uses her long arms very effectively to take up space from opposing hitters.
