Expert Analysis
Melissa Smith | Prep Dig Scout
She has one of the strongest arms in this class, and when the set was there, she probably put more pace on the ball than any other middle at the showcase. She looked comfortable running the slide and showed she can terminate from multiple locations, making her a difficult matchup at the net. At times, the ball got a little too far behind her head, so keeping it out in front will help her generate even more power while making her arm swing more efficient. I’d also like to see her get her left arm up more during her swing to create additional power and maximize her already impressive arm swing. Defensively, she was one of the best blockers in the gym, consistently getting to a high height over the net and recording some of the best blocks of the event. With her physicality and defensive instincts, she has the potential to become a true difference-maker at the net.

Her size doesn’t tell the whole story. Her ability to play multiple positions in the front row with one of the best clubs in the area does. She’s been playing a mostly open-level schedule, and holding her own against some of the best. Long strides make her a no-doubt defensive-minded prospect, while her attack and high volleyball IQ will have more recruiters on her court than most other middles in both southern Indiana and the Louisville area.

Big, physical, and owning a very high volleyball IQ, Lexi is a difference maker for both her high school team and at KiVA. Long arms and even longer legs allow her ample opportunity to defend from pin to pin with ease, and her transition is fast enough to frustrate slower blockers. Her under-the-radar status is simple: she plays high school ball in Indiana and club ball in Kentucky. She’s all set to dominate both sides of the Ohio River for years to come.

As intimidating as her profile photo looks, Lexi is a long, lean and fast athlete that gives fits to all opponents on a regular basis in all aspects of her game. On offense, she’s on time and quick with her transition, making slow blocks look slower and small blockers look obsolete. On defense, she somehow gets touches on nearly EVERY ball attacked in her general direction, making the defenders behind her thankful for a front row player constantly engaged on defense. Terminal in her play and relentless in her work ethic, Lexi is a solid candidate for high-end recruiting attention.

Hale influences things at the net with her size in the middle and right side. Hale lands quicks to the back row quickly. She at least gets hands on balls if she does not block them. Hale is a very positive teammates on and off the court.
