Expert Analysis
Mike Graham | Prep Dig Scout
The 16 Red team is filled with playmakers and Sorg will more than make her fair share of them. The Class 4A Second Team All-State Sorg has a great nose for the ball making play after play defensively. She keeps plays alive under control. Sorg puzzles opponents with a tough jump floater serve. Offensively, Sorg has such great mechanics she produces dart after dart. Defenders have to be in the path of balls or they are not coming up. Sorg consistently beats blocks before they are put up and powers her way through them. Sorg tips balls to shallow lines to throw off opponents.

There’s a few reasons why Macy is “under the radar”. For one, she plays club call across the Ohio River in Kentucky, getting superior training with KiVA. Second, her ability to quietly lead Floyd Central from her outside hitting position is a regular occurrence—-she’s hit double-digit kills in her last four matches and eight of her last ten. Doing a little of everything is her speciality, and will be the x-factor in the Highlanders pull off a semi-state win.

With 14 kills in Floyd Central’s season-opening sweep of Bloomington North, Macy is a full-time outside hitter for the Highlanders that gets her open-level training across the Ohio River in Kentucky. Balanced, strong and tough, Macy’s ability to change the game single-handedly has not gone unnoticed. I like her relentless effort and attitude—-too many outsides in this class just work on their attacking instead of honing the entire recruitment package. Macy ignores that trope—-she is more than capable of playing at multiple positions at the next level, and it’s only a matter of time before colleges figure it out.

More of a right side than an outside, the majority of Macy’s training is honed on the beach. Regularly placing high enough to be seen on the national stage over the summer, Macy’s solid ball control and high attack point allow her to pick and choose exactly what she wants to do to opponents. Although a lot of her successes have been on the outdoor scene, Macy’s ability to play for one of the better 4A programs in the state during high school and one of the best clubs around will allow her to develop organically—whether that’s on either pin or on the sand.
