Lexie Clanin Lexie Clanin 6'0" | S/RS Benet Academy | 2028 State IL could be a steal at the next level.  She is a 2028 setter who has ran the show for Adversity 16 Purple where they’ve had an impressive season.  I was able to see Clanin and her team play at MEQ and the Windy City Qualifier.  Via her Instagram she went to the Sunshine high academic camp recently in Southern California.  The Ivy League has gotten some highly talented Chicagoland athletes and Clanin would fit right in with that group.  Her athleticism and physicality at the net is real impressive among Illinois setters.  She knows how to put her attackers in position to score and can do so herself when needed.  Adversity 16 Purple will be heading to AAU Nationals in Orlando. 

Adversity 16 Purple has put together quite a season.  They played in the open division at Windy City and advanced to day two gold pools.  A setter to know from this group would be Lexie Clanin Lexie Clanin 6'0" | S/RS Benet Academy | 2028 State IL who brings athleticism and physicality to the position.  She receives the ball at a high point while remaining neutral to get all of her attackers involved.  She is a true 5-1 setter who can play all the way around and is always a threat at the net offensively and defensively. 

At first glance, I thought Lexie was a PIN due to her size. To which this was partially true, she is a Right Side, but that is a secondary position for her. She is a setter, not just any setter; she is one to watch for the future. Steady hands, quick feet to pair with a sneaky athleticism. Makes all the right calls from jump sets, has an excellent touch for back sets, quick back row, and good 4 to the outside. Even getting on the net, making good reads to contest for blocks.

Lexie is another player who shocked me when I found out she’s only a freshman. She has incredibly soft hands and does a great job getting all of her hitters involved, especially her middles. Clanin uses every bit of her height to her advantage and has amazing court vision, often catching defenders off guard. The future looks bright for Clanin, and I can’t wait to see her compete with 1st Alliance this season!
