Lila Hannemann is one of those players who elevates the level of everyone around her with her energy and competitive nature. Hannemann runs a fast paced offense for Lutheran and does an excellent job recognizing which hitters to distribute the ball to in key moments. She consistently puts her attackers in the best position to score and keeps opposing defenses guessing with her decision making. Hannemann can also be an offensive threat herself, using dumps and second ball attacks to add another dynamic element to Lutheran’s offense.

Hannemann brings a different kind of versatility to the setter position.

She has the athleticism to contribute around the net and the willingness to stay involved when the rally moves away from the traditional setter responsibilities. That matters because setters have to be ready for far more than the second contact.

Hannemann also has a confident presence when she takes control of an offense. She understands how to keep her hitters involved while still recognizing when the play calls for something different. Her ability to defend, block, set, and compete through messy rallies gives her a broad understanding of the game. The more she continues developing each part of that skill set, the more interesting her ceiling becomes.

Lila Hannemann is one of those players coaches love to have on the court, not only because of her athleticism but also because of the leadership and positive energy she brings. Hannemann has continued to develop since the club season and runs one of the fastest paced offenses in Colorado. She distributes the ball efficiently and does a great job putting her hitters in positions to score. Hannemann also handles tight passes well, making quick adjustments and finding ways to keep her offense in system.

Hannemann brings an all-around mentality to the court. She can be involved in nearly every phase of the game, and that versatility only makes her stronger as a setter.

She can defend, block, set, and step in when a rally gets messy. That ability to stay involved helps keep her team moving forward, even when the first contact isn’t perfect. Furthermore, playing every phase gives Hannemann a better feel for the entire game and helps her become a more complete offensive leader.
