Anjonai Bruno | Prep Dig Scout
Coy was one of the most complete outside hitters in the Open Division throughout the weekend. She brings a strong, powerful arm swing that allows her to score consistently against well-formed blocks, but what stood out most was her ability to mix in smart ball placement with aggressive offense. Coy played with control in all six rotations, showing poise in serve receive while still being a go-to attacker in key moments. Her combination of physicality and court awareness made her a standout performer.

The junior outside hitter had a steady and consistent night, keeping her level of play linear during the match. Coy was an important offensive weapon for the Longhorns and did a good job with her shot selection, mixing up hard-driven swings and well-placed tips and roll shots. Her passing was very reliable and she also had a good success rate with her defensive action. Coy did a fine job from the service line too, going on good runs in key moments of the match.

Coy has seen her role with George Ranch grow over the years and will be, again, a key piece for the Longhorns in 2024. An explosive and athletic outside hitter, she splits the team’s offensive load with senior Sydney Bryant and has been living up to the task, developing into an elite point-scorer. Coy can score from the left or the right and has been consistently expanding her offensive game, adding smart shots and tips to it. Her progress can also be noticed in other areas of the game as her passing has been as consistent as ever and her serving has become more of a weapon recently.

The sophomore outside hitter had a difficult start to the match, producing below her usual level offensively and on serve-receive and making uncharacteristic errors. Slowly, Coy settled into the game and paired with Bryant to help George Ranch push Ridge Point harder on set three. Despite not having her best offensive night, she still was the Longhorns’ second-best hitter with four kills. Coy also deserves credit for finding other ways to help the team as she had two aces and some good serving runs, as well as a team-high two blocks.
