Sherby, a six-rotation outside hitter for Athena 16-1, is an all-around solid, talented athlete. On serve receive, Sherby is very skilled at positioning herself well to put up beautiful passes on even the toughest of serves. Sherby also has a quick approach and a fast, strong arm swing, both of which she uses well to move the ball around the court. Sherby is a versatile attacker, hitting effectively from both pins.

Sherby transferred to Valley Catholic this year, after playing one season for the Hillsboro Spartans and earning 5A Northwest Oregon all-league honorable mention accolades as a freshman. Sherby is a high level outside hitter with a big vertical, a fast arm swing, and a wide hitting range; she moves the ball around the court seamlessly. On serve receive and defense, Sherby is disciplined and controlled, putting up perfect passes consistently. Sherby had a great season with the Athena 15-1 team this past season. She will be a huge offensive weapon for the Valiants this fall.

Why the rise? Moving up from 31st to an impressive 11th in the state is Sherby, who really stepped up for her team as a six-rotation outside hitter this season. Part of Sherby’s movement in the rankings is due to her solid play all around: Sherby is quick on defense and makes great reads and digs on the ball, and she is an offensive weapon, moving the ball around the court effortlessly with her quick arm swing and strong court vision. Sherby has a lot of potential for continued growth.

Hitting on the outside for the Athena 15-1 team is Sherby, an athletic and solid player all around. Sherby has a quick and strong arm swing that she uses to hit the ball straight down. She is also a steady defensive player, making great reads on the ball and picking up digs to create scoring opportunities for her team. At Regionals, Sherby was instrumental in her team’s 3-set win over the OJVA 15-1 team, during which Sherby had several kills in the last few points of the match.
