About Maryella

How would you briefly describe your gameplay style?

I am a team first player. I will do whatever I can to help my team… whether that is on the court or on the bench. I am the biggest cheerleader! I am working on my quickness and speed. I spent the summer working Setter Progressions and first contact for setters, and of course just hitting the gym with my trainer.

Can you provide a brief description of your mentality or personality?

It’s hard to get me down! While I am hard on myself, I will never be hard on my teammates. I work hard to lift everyone up, and keep up the tempo and morale, even when we are down.

Are you involved in any clubs, organizations, or have you received any non-sport awards?

I am a member of the French Club at school. I work hard to support our local Children’s Hospital - either by toy drives, or helping with nonprofit organization support. I’m looking forward to volunteering at the upcoming NICU reunion!

What skills or qualities have you developed, such as leadership, teamwork, or community service?

I have learned that teamwork really does boil down to supporting each other, and lifting each other up when we are down. I love performing community service, and was excited to join the Honor Society given their commitment to volunteering and community support.

Have you faced any significant challenges? If so, please describe.

I grew up with ADHD, which has been a challenge, but I have learned how to work with it, and am excited to be doing so well without medication!

What type of college are you looking for?

I want a supportive community, that provides a well rounded experience that extends beyond volleyball. But I am excited to join a new volleyball family!
