Maya Klabo Maya Klabo 5'9" | RS/OH West Fargo Horace | 2029 State ND is a right-side hitter who can make life difficult for opposing outsides. I really like what she brings defensively at the net. She gets her hands over early, closes off hitting angles, and forces hitters to adjust where they put the ball. She’s especially effective at taking away that hard cross-court swing. But Maya isn’t just contributing with her block. She does an impressive job getting off the net and getting herself ready to attack. Her footwork lets her make that transition quickly, which is something I watch for in right-side hitters. Having a player who can slow down an opponent’s top hitter and still be an offensive threat is a big advantage. ~Theresa@prepdigdakotas

Maya Klabo Maya Klabo 5'9" | RS/OH West Fargo Horace | 2029 State ND also made her mark from the right side throughout the tournament. One thing I did notice was how consistently she got herself in position in transition. “When she flipped defense into offense, she was already rebuilding her approach and giving her setter an option on the pin. She hit with a high contact point, was patient against a formed block, and did an impressive job of using the block rather than forcing low-percentage swings. Defensively at the net, she closed well with her middle, pressed her hands across the tape, and took away quality angles from opposing outside hitters. She was one of Sanford’s most dependable right-side attackers at nationals because of how completely she handled both her blocking assignments and offensive opportunities. ~Theresa@prepdigdakotas
