Bernard was a bright spot in her Texas Fury 17 Legacy team that returned home with one win and four losses. Her presence at the net was among the team’s main positives during the weekend as she got to impact the game on both sides of the ball. Bernard’s blocking put a lot of pressure on opponents because of how well she could move and how aggressively she worked with her arms. The middle was also a viable offensive option for the team, using her size and power to score from the middle and the right.

Bernard’s incredible athleticism made her stand out among our middles as she was extremely effective on both sides of the ball. Having been following her for the last year or so, her performance wasn’t necessarily a surprise, but it was very nice to see that she continues to improve her game at a great pace. On Saturday, particularly, her mobility on the court and her offense, which continues to become more diverse, were among the things that caught my attention. I also loved how focused and connected she was in every play, even if she was strongly dominating at the net.

Bernard was one of the standouts in our last event in Houston, in the summer, and we’re excited to have her back and see in which ways she’s been able to strengthen her already impressive game since then. She’s a very physical middle, who can truly make a difference on both sides of the ball at the net. There are several big, athletic middles out there, but very few have the body control and the coordination she displays to make plays at the net. Bernard is an excellent blocker and also a very strong offensive player, who can hit different sets with power and precision.

Having watched Bernard in action a few times during the last club season, I wasn’t surprised at all by her strong play, but the way she dominated the net against some very talented prospects was truly impressive. The middle blocker seems to have learned how to use her length and physical tools in the best possible ways and her block was really hard to get by during the match-like drills. Bernard’s movement on the court was really smooth and she was also among the best in terms of quickly making herself available offensively after going up to try to get a block.

A very athletic middle, Bernard is coming from a very solid club season with Texas Fury 16 Legacy. I got to watch her a few times this past season and it was nice to see how she continued to learn how to best use her physical tools to be a very productive player for her team. Bernard is very long and physical, but has excellent footwork and moves extremely well at the net. Her very effective blocking also has excellent timing to go up and aggressive moves above the net with her arms in order to take up space from opposing hitters. She’s also a solid offensive player, who can hit different sets in the middle and score at a high rate in all of them.

The long and athletic Bernard was very solid for division winners Texas Fury 16 Legacy. She was very active at the net and had some good production with her blocking as a combination of her lateral quickness, excellent timing and aggressive hand placement. Bernard’s footwork also helped her on offense as she would always make herself available in transition and was very efficient hitting different sets through the middle.

A middle with excellent length and athleticism, Bernard had a strong presence in the middle for division winners Texas Fury 16 Legacy. It seemed there was nothing her long arms couldn’t touch when blocking, especially because of her excellent reading of the game and great timing to get off the floor. Her long legs and arms also helped her move around at the net and it was really rare when she couldn’t get to the pins in time to make an impact. She also displayed a solid offensive game, hitting different sets at a good rate.
