Meg is an underrated setter in the DMV area, who has been getting a great chance to show off her skills on a talented VA Juniors team. I’m glad she’s found a home where she fits and is getting to show what I’ve seen glimpses of for a while now. She plays solid defense for a setter, better in the back than at the net, although she can still run a passable 5-1 for a team. She’s good at spreading the ball around and keeping teams off balance, and is good for a couple kills a match on some well placed dumps, and has been working on her blocks. She’s another player that is going to have success at the next level, she’s mentally rock solid and rarely makes mistakes and knows how to lead a successful team under pressure. I know she’s had interest from a few schools already, and I expect more offers to start flying in as we close in on Nationals. If there’s a team out there on the fence, they’d better close the deal while they can, or they’re going to regret letting her get away.

, but she’s nursing a bit of an injury to her hand, so wisely, VA split and ran a 6-2 at Regionals, sharing the load and helping to keep players rested. They can get away with that because Meg is no slouch herself. She’s been around the area looking for the right fit for a few years, and she got a chance to get some real time and shine this weekend. She looked good, out there both offensively and defensively, and didn’t slow down the machine with the change. She showed off a good serve, played a bit at the net, had a couple of blocks, and did a good job setting, moving the ball around to all their weapons. I’m glad she got a chance to show what she’s got. She’s one of a group of setters in this class that don’t get enough love in the rankings.

Meg is a fantastic under the radar setter. She sets for Annapolis HS where she’s by far their best player and just takes over games by herself. She’s a great, aggressive defender, and she’s got the guile to drop a few kills a game with cleverly placed dumps. She’s moved around the area a bit, and is a calm veteran presence because of it. She’s run both a 5-1 and a 6-2 system and has a ton of flexibility in her game. She can help seal weaknesses of most any team because she can cover and be wherever she needs to be, while still giving you different looks speed and play wise.
