Unsigned Players Making An Impact On HS Season In Maryland

Just some notes on some unsigned players on the table in Maryland that have really made jumps in development. These are the ones that will be making big waves in club season, but before everyone gets the jump on them.    I've been talking about Meg for a couple years now, I've seen the talent flashes for a while seeing her up close and personal during HS season and not just club. She's played for some of the best clubs in the area, and is kind of a victim of the deep group of setters in this class of 2027. She's talked to a few schools, there's interest there, but someone needs to get on this soon, because she's going to get taken in this early club season run that happens every year and teams are going to get left looking at far lesser setters. He blocking has really improved from last year to this year, which is fun to see that she's still developing aspects of her game going into senior year. Last year it was her dumps and offense I noticed that had gotten a tick up. There are still a few setters on the board in this class, but if someone is hunting one still, Meg is at the top of the list for me.     This is one of my BIG deep dives, I'll sprinkle a nugget for people looking for height. She may be crossing that 6 foot line, I was being conservative giving her 5'11, long arms, good extension, the blocking is there, she's a player that could use a refresh during club season and could become a legit weapon for a D3. Some technique and advanced coaching attention is about all she's missing right now. She's got the athleticism and agility, she's got the mindset, all that's left is to put it together with some of the more technical instruction. This could be a big steal for a D3 looking for a MB.     It's a bit criminal that she's unranked. She's easily one of the top pin hitters in Maryland right now. She was buried behind some very talented pins the past two years at Arundel, and now it's her time to shine. She's one of those players that the people that really know KNOW who she is, but the more casual fans could miss her because of the hitters ahead of her at Arundel and on her CVA Club team. She's on a talented team loaded with some of the best pins in the area there too. She's come out on a mission this year to stake her claim, and done a good job of it. She's playing all around and has a cannon for a shot, most of the offense there is run through her right now. A matchup with Severn Run and her club teammate [player_tooltip player_id='857977' first='Savannah' last='Smith'] is in the future and will probably determine a lot of the division standings.     Kadey is another unsigned senior that should not still be on the market. She's the epitome of the speedy, ranging DS, and is a big part of why Arundel is in the mix this season. She spent a season playing 18s at Metro Travel last year, which should speak to her level of play. She should be one of the first pieces off the board in this signing season (usually the beginning of club season through February), where you often see the unsigned 18s commit. A DS that can cover line to line is a very valuable piece of the puzzle, the recent trend of playing multiple hitters all 6 positions cut into that a bit, with a lot of teams only playing the Lib as a true DS and there would be hitters in the back the rest of the time. The meta seems to be shifting a bit however as teams are realizing that someone that fully and only trains back row defense and passing is usually going to be more advanced than a player that has to split their development time between offense and defense. I've seen many more 2 DS lineups, use of the two Libero system, and my newer theory, the DS/Setter hyrbids starting to pop up more and more recently. That puts players like Kadey in demand.     Ella may be the key to someone's season next year, and is still on the table as of right now. She was new to the area last season, and spent a year developing her offense at RS, but has primarily been a Middle before then. She's in the tall, long armed build as a middle, that generates power with a strong arm whip. She's strong on the block and has shown ability to hit 10 foot line. I've told people last year that she reminds me of [player_tooltip player_id='437441' first='Hunter' last='Ross'] a few years ago, I think she has that kind of potential if someone keeps her at middle. She's that kind of player that could be conference player of the year as a freshman in the right situation, I'm very interested to see where she lands.
