Another of the top class of 2023 middles in Texas according to our Prep Dig State Rankings, Sampson is with a new club this season and will play in the 18 USA division with Texas Legacy 18 Elite. A very physical and athletic player, she’s back in the middle after playing as an outside hitter during the last high school season with Klein. Sampson is a phenomenal blocker, who gets off the ground quickly and makes strong and fast movements with her arms to stop opponents. She’s also a very strong offensive player, who uses her physical power and excellent footwork to thrive at the net.

Sampson’s arrival has provided Texas Legacy 18 Elite with a much-needed and invaluable presence in the middle. A very dynamic and physical prospect, she knows how to make her presence felt on both sides of the ball at the net. Sampson does an excellent job with her blocking and is able to get off the floor really quickly, often surprising opposing hitters who think she’s late. Her athleticism also comes in handy offensively as she uses her excellent footwork to make herself available very often while also making contact with the ball at a very high point.

Originally a middle blocker, Sampson started the season playing as an outside hitter in order to provide a more consistent offensive punch to the team. With her great size and impressive jumping, she’s been able to get the job done at the net, besides also offering a solid blocking presence at the pin. Sampson still needs to get more comfortable in serve-receive but that’s probably something that will happen as the season progresses.
