Kooiman announced her presence for me when watching her perform during the 2024 Iowa State High School Tournament as a freshman. She led Western Christian with 11 kills in the 3A championship match against Mount Vernon. Kooiman showed great improvement when scouting her again at the 2025 state tournament. She delivered 20 kills in a crushing semifinal setback against Humboldt. Kooiman is an explosive athlete with long arms and leaping ability. She shows a natural feel when on the attack or throwing up the block. What makes Kooiman such an exciting college prospect is that there’s a high floor and ceiling. She reports a 10-foot approach and looks the part during her recently-posted highlight video from the MLK Nebraska Premier Invite.

of Western Christian is a force to be reckoned with. She is a strong 6’3 middle with a wide wing span. She is someone the other side of the net always is aware of when it comes to her offense and her ability to close the split on the pins. She can hit tempos in front and behind the setter while also mixing in high IQ shots. She has played for Salty out of Norhwest Iowa, but has also played in some events with Iowa Premier. Her ceiling is real high and will be fun to see where she lands. With Dordt and Northwestern down the road she could continue that pipeline or there are plenty of D1s who would love to get her on campus.

We can’t talk about Western Iowa without talking about Western Christian. The Wolfpack have only lost to one Iowa team in Sioux County rival Sioux Center. Sophomore

is a Class of 2028 prospect to have on the radar. Her athleticism and physicality at the net sets her apart and is showing this season. She is averaging nearly four kills per set and is hitting a mind blowing .405. They will have quite a test this weekend when they head to Urbandale to take on some top 4A and 5A teams.
