English will be with the Houston Stellar 17 Elite team in the 17 Open division. A lefty with tremendous hoops, she’s always a challenge to opposing blockers and defenders because of how diversified and unpredictable her offense is. English can hit quicker sets on the right, but does well when working with higher ones – she’s also very prolific from the left and the middle back positions. She has a heavy and quick right arm, which she uses to beat blockers at the net, but is also very aware and smart to turn to tips when that’s the best option. English has been playing as an outside hitter for her high school team Manvel over the last two seasons and has significantly improved her passing and defense, evolving into a true all-around player.

The junior was used in the outside hitter role, as she’s been during the entire season, and worked hard to deliver on both sides of the ball. With Manvel missing some starters, English was easily the team’s most used player on offense, being set on the left, right and the middle back positions. She faced some heavy blockers at the net and did a good job of diversifying her offense, going from hard-driven swings to tips and roll shots very efficiently. English was also very active on the backcourt, making several digs and doing a good job with her passing.

English was one of the standouts in the Houston Stellar 16 Elite team that ranked first in the division with seven matches won and just one set lost. Her offensive presence was extremely valuable for the team as they had full trust in her. A phenomenal jumper, English also has a very quick left arm and uses it to beat blockers and find nice angles from the right. She was very successful in hitting quicker or higher sets on the right and that variation also contributed to her efficiency.

English was one of the main scoring options in her Houston Stellar 16 Elite team that got six wins in seven matches and secured a bid to the 16 USA division. The high-flying right side hitter used all of her resources to score, making contact with the ball at a high point and swinging with power. A lefty, English adjusted her body extremely well to each set and always had plenty of options to pick from in her swings. She was very versatile offensively, hitting quicker and higher sets with great efficiency, and used her quick left arm to beat blockers when they stood in her way.

Originally a right-side hitter, English has been playing on the left for Manvel at the start of the season and has been proving to be a more-than-viable option there as well. She was very effective offensively and was arguably Manvel’s main scoring option during the match. English displayed a well-diversified offense, using her amazing vertical and her heavy left arm to overpower opponents, but also managed to hit around the block and change her pace with off-speed plays to put the ball down. She played with a lot of confidence at the net and that helped her side out in several out-of-system plays. English didn’t have to pass a whole lot, but held her own when she did it.

I had seen a little bit of English during the high school season playing with Manvel and her athletic tools really intrigued me. She gets off the floor as well as anyone, but her insane athleticism shows in several other ways when she’s on the court, most notably with how dynamic and quick she is. The Houston Stellar 15 Elite right side is a big offensive threat because she can hit quicker or higher sets and her outstanding body control allows her to adjust to any location. English is also really quick with her arm swing, often beating blockers up at the net or hitting around them. Her blocking has also made significant progress over the last few months and is now another weapon in her game.

A very athletic prospect, English was Houston Stellar 15 Elite’s first-choice right side hitter. A lot of her game is built upon her incredible athleticism, from her tremendous jumping ability to her outstanding body control when in the air. A lefty, she is pretty good at adjusting to whatever sets are sent her way and because of that her offense is somewhat unpredictable because she hit a quicker or a higher set on any play. English’s left arm is also very quick, which helps hit around the block. She’s improved her consistency over the last few months and is also a solid blocker.

English didn’t get a ton of playing time during the high school season as a freshman in a loaded Manvel roster, but don’t sleep on her. This kid has a ton of potential and started to show it during our showcase. She’s a lefty and can jump really well, a combination that typically leads to great production from the right. English also impressed me with her ability to hit sharp angle from either side of the net and with the massive firepower she’s got on her left arm.
