Guilherme Torres | Prep Dig Scout
The senior outside hitter had a very solid game, doing a lot for her team with her production and stability. Coleman’s athleticism on offense found no answer across the net and she was very effective hitting from the left and the middle back position. Her shot selection was always great, which allowed her to score in out-of-system plays and keep her errors very low. Coleman also thrived on the backcourt, staying consistent with her passing and delivering some nice digs.

A state champion last year with Grand Oaks, Coleman is one of the team’s returning players and looks ready to lead the Grizzlies to another successful season. An extremely athletic player, she’s one of the top offensive players in the entire state and is very difficult to stop with her combination of size, physical strength and technical resources. Coleman has continued to develop her ball control and her defensive game over the years and is now an extremely reliable passer, who plays a major role to her team in serve-receive. Playing opposite to Thompson, Coleman was equally productive for the Grizzlies. Episcopal simply had no answers to her physicality and athleticism and that allowed her to have a very prolific night offensively. The outside hitter had great success hitting from the left and also set quite often at the middle back position too, displaying great variation with her swings and excellent decision-making. Coleman was also very solid with her passing, keeping Grand Oaks in system when she was the target of Episcopal’s servers.

Houston Skyline gets another entry here, but this one’s at the 17s level. Coleman has been stout with 17 Royal this year, but GJNC seemed to be at another level for the Pittsburgh commit. Whenever Houston Skyline needed a clutch kill, Coleman would inevitably get her chance. Her ability to adapt to a variety of tempos and situations eventually earned Coleman a spot on the 17 Open all-tournament team.

A class of 2025 talent, Coleman is playing one age group up this season and will be a part of Houston Skyline 17 Royal’s squad in the 17 Open division in Atlanta. Her tremendous vertical and endless hangtime make of her a threat to score against anyone and from anywhere on the court, but Coleman has clearly been taking the time to improve other areas of her game. Her volleyball IQ and her shot selection continue to get better as she also seems more comfortable than ever on the backcourt.
