About Shannon
How would you briefly describe your gameplay style?
I am a defensive leader on the court. I can read the ball before it crosses the net. I am a strong communicator and leader! I am constantly communicating to my team, especially my pins and hitters. I provide a confident leadership style that my teammates rely on. My passing and service receive is another strong point.
Can you provide a brief description of your mentality or personality?
I am a positive force of nature. I always see the upside of each situation and lead my team to not dwell in negativity. I am super competitive and want to win. I know that winning comes in more ways than just the score, but I do love winning!
Are you involved in any clubs, organizations, or have you received any non-sport awards?
Yes, I am part of National Honor Society, Yearbook and serve as the Junior class representative for the CDS Site Council.
What skills or qualities have you developed, such as leadership, teamwork, or community service?
Much of my time has been spent playing volleyball both indoor and beach. However, I have been able to gain leadership experience through community service at my church, school and other non-profit organizations. My qualities and skills are resilience, hardworking, competitive, commitment, inclusiveness, positivity, leadership, and determination.
Have you faced any significant challenges? If so, please describe.
Yes, there are many challenges I have faced growing up. From learning new lessons (sports and personal), team dynamic issues to friend drama, I believe all of those challenges are part of growing and learning buy may not qualify as significant. I am very blessed to have athleticism, intelligence, and a great family support to rely on!
What type of college are you looking for?
I am looking for a college that has a strong academic program. Today my interests lie in either a business degree or Criminal Justice. As I continue to grow and learn those interests could change. I am looking for a college that has a variety of options for degrees programs. I would like a school that also has a strong athletic culture within its administrative and student population.
