has been an undeniable force for the AZ Storm 17 Thunder squad this season and continues to prove why she’s one of the most intriguing young middles in the state. It’s impressive enough to consistently contribute while playing up an age division, but doing it at the middle blocker position — where speed, timing, and physicality are constantly tested — makes what she’s accomplishing even more impressive.
Mikaela moves extremely well laterally along the net, allowing her to close blocks quickly and stay involved in every phase of the game. Offensively, she runs quick tempo sets with confidence and efficiency, staying available in transition and creating problems for opposing defenses with her speed and timing. She plays with a high motor, communicates well, and carries herself with composure beyond her years.
One of the biggest things that stands out is the trust her team has in her. Her setter consistently looks to her in important moments, and Mikaela repeatedly delivers by doing her job at a high level every time she steps onto the court. She continues to develop into a complete middle with a very bright future ahead, and we’re excited to watch where the game takes this talented young athlete over the next few years.

Mikaela Lee-Tsosie consistently comes back to presence. Whether she is talking about transition speed, blocking discipline, or leadership, there is a clear understanding that her role as a middle extends far beyond simply attacking quick sets.
She wants coaches to notice how she leads, how she gets up in transition, and how she creates a strong blocking presence.
Her growth this season has centered around becoming faster, more disciplined, and more vocal under pressure, all critical traits for middles competing at higher levels.
When the pace rises, Mikaela’s focus does not change.
She trusts training, communicates, and continues bringing energy.
Her game feels coachable, competitive, and increasingly influential in how her team plays around her.

Mikaela Lee-Tsosie controlled the net with authority, discipline, and elite timing throughout the day. She ran tempo with precision, consistently staying available in transition and finishing at a high rate in rhythm against physical, organized fronts. Lee-Tsosie showed advanced offensive patience — reading the block, holding her approach, and attacking late to find clean seams rather than forcing swings into traffic. Her contact point, control, and efficiency separated her across long stretches.
Defensively, she dictated space at the net. Mikaela read setters early, closed with urgency and balance, and pressed strong hands across the tape to take away angles and force low-percentage swings. Her ability to disrupt rhythm, slow opposing offenses, and control momentum reflected a middle operating at the highest level. Her net presence, discipline, and complete two-way impact stood out among the strongest performances of the day. ~Theresa @prepdigdakotas
