Heaney has developed so much since she entered the fray as a freshman. That growth has warranted an all-around role in the backcourt, where Heaney is not afraid to carry the load in serve receive. Along the net, the savvy junior was comfortable with a variety of tempos and also varied her shots effectively. The Wolves will need those contributions in their pursuit of another championship match appearance.

Grace Heaney is no longer on the right pin, but Shay Heaney Shay Heaney Shay Heaney 6'2" | OH Elkhorn North | 2025 State NE can pick up the slack on the left. Her vast experience in big matches will keep the Wolves in the championship hunt, and it all starts with a duel against some Class A heavyweights at the Bellevue West Invite.

Not only has Heaney seen some of the biggest stages that Nebraska has to offer, but she’s done it with a program that just opened its doors a few years ago. Heaney’s debut season with Elkhorn North was the school’s second year of volleyball competition, and the Wolves made an incredible climb to the state semifinals. Greater horizons awaited in 2022 as Elkhorn North earned Class B’s top seed and appeared in the title match at the Devaney Center. Heaney’s role will continue to expand in 2023 as she becomes a featured left-side attacker in the Elkhorn North offense.
