Last year Sofia played outside on the second team for Paramount . Only 5’7″ the smaller height would not have been as effective if she hit outside on the first team. Paramount must have liked what they saw in her backrow play because they promoted her to the first team this past season. The Paramount 16 team finished in second place in the National Division playing in Junior Nationals. She and Riley Ko Riley Ko 5'9" | DS/L Reservoir | 2028 State VA made my all tournament team at libero.

This year for Lightridge it would not surprise me to see her hit outside. Middle Giuliana Mastrangelo Giuliana Mastrangelo 6'3" | MB Lightridge | 2028 State VA , who jumped from 33 to 25 also plays for Lightridge. Last year they lost to Potomac Falls four times, including in the first round of the Class 5 Regionals.

Sofia jumped from 109 to 76 in the rankings.

Sofia seemed to be everywhere on the court making a dig for the Paramount 16 team. Given opportunities for second chances they climbed to second place in the Junior Nationals National Division. While she did not find a spot on the USAV all tournament team I would bet she was close. For the 16s she earned a spot on the Prep Dig All Tournament team for libero, along with Riley Ko Riley Ko 5'9" | DS/L Reservoir | 2028 State VA from Metro.

It is interesting that the previous year on the Paramount 15 second team Sofia played as an outside hitter/setter. As a hitter she put some good velocity on the ball while playing six rotations. It appears that good passing and defense on the second team as an undersized outside transformed her to a libero on the Paramount 16 first team. It would not be a surprise that she continues to play a six rotation outside for Lightridge.
