Coming into this event not a lot was known about Sophia. She was recently put on our class of 2029 watch list after creating a profile. However, you will not see her name on the current watch list rankings because she was added after the rankings went out. If I voted on the surprise player of this event Sophia stands out as my top choice.
She moves well on the court and carries a good attitude. Communication for her just comes naturally. Watching her presence you would not guess she was still a frosh. She brought no fear to admitting to an error, even though it may not have been hers. At 5’11 she has good size to dominate on the left side. She just needs to add a little more experience to her game.
Sophia fell short of making a very strong Atlee varsity team this year. Looking forward to seeing what she accomplishes there for the next three years. Atlee lost in the first round of the Class 4 state playoffs to Grafton. Next year Sophia should make a significant difference in their state playoff run.
This year Sophia will play for River City Volleyball Academy 15 National.
