About Sophia

How would you briefly describe your gameplay style?

I would describe my gameplay as very high energy and I am constantly communicating to my teammates and I strive to encourage my teammates. I love to bring a positive attitude and competitiveness to the court for my team.

Can you provide a brief description of your mentality or personality?

Throughout my volleyball career, I have developed a very competitive mindset for volleyball. I bring a lot of intensity to the game, I make it a point to be the most loud and energetic person on the court. I love to celebrate plays, communicate, and bring the energy for my team on the court.

Are you involved in any clubs, organizations, or have you received any non-sport awards?

I am involved in a club at my school called FCS. (Fellowship of Christian students) I was also a part of my school student council for my middle school. I was in charge of welcoming new students to our school. I am also very involved in the volleyball community and I have played with my junior varsity and varsity school volleyball team, and I won the “On a Mission Award” for my school.

What skills or qualities have you developed, such as leadership, teamwork, or community service?

Through volleyball, I have learned how to become a leader, not only on the court, but also in my life outside of volleyball. I have also developed a strong sense of work ethic and teamwork. Volleyball has taught me how to communicate meaningfully, be committed towards my goals, and how to be very positive and lift others up!

Have you faced any significant challenges? If so, please describe.

I live a very blessed life in the fact I can’t share a gigantic problem I have had. However what I can share is that I have had some very hard coaches in my career thus far. This was something that I had to overcome in the sense of my mental well being. I decided to focus on prayer, on my self confidence, and I decided to journal.

What type of college are you looking for?

I am looking for a college I can continue my volleyball career in. Somewhere I can grow as a player, teammate, and person. I have a 4.0 and love science, ELA, and anything related to space.
