Newman (pictured) is hoping to solidify her defensive skills during the club season in hopes of helping the Defenders put up a solid defense in the fall. Newman has good form on her passing showing the ability to dig up solid hitters. Newman sends across nice serves then quickly moves forward to handle tipped balls. Newman does a nice job executing overhead and bump passes reacting quickly on balls. Newman quickly runs down setovers. Newman is an aggressive server and is not afraid to extend an arm to keep plays alive. Newman had 120 digs for Bryan Station in the fall.
