More than 1,100 career kills and more than 1,000 career assists. That stat line belongs to one player and her name is Sophia Saiz Sophia Saiz 5'7" | S/RS Veterans Memorial E.C.H.S. | 2027 TX . The 5’8″ senior plays both setter and right side attacker at her high school and that rare mix shows up all over the box score. This fall she has 586 kills in 104 sets and had already passed 230 assists by midseason. In my opinion, her setter’s eye is the secret to her attack. Instead of swinging into the block, she finds open space with a quick arm and great vision to find the open areas in the defense. Saiz is a team captain and a Prep Dig Watch List player who has produced against some of the best teams in South Texas. A college staff that runs a six two system or needs a true utility player will not find many prospects like her. Please help us congratulate her on earning this well deserved recognition.

Sophia Saiz Sophia Saiz 5'7" | S/RS Veterans Memorial E.C.H.S. | 2027 TX , a Class of 2027 setter from Veterans Memorial and Texas Fierce Elite Volleyball Club, has built her game in one of the most competitive volleyball markets in South Texas and earned her Watch List recognition by consistently performing in the settings that matter. We have watched her over the past few years and our scouts have enjoyed having her attend our showcase events in the past. She manages tempo and keeps her offense organized even when the pass takes her out of her comfort zone, which is the clearest sign that the technical work she has put in during practice has become second nature rather than something she has to consciously manage. Sophia is a 2027 setter from the valley area who deserves attention from college programs scouting the South Texas market. We will be watching her very closely and you should as well. Please help us congratulate her on earning a spot in our Official Watch List.

Miss Saiz is currently an unranked prospect in the 2027 class according to our Texas State Rankings, but is listed on our official Watch List.  She plays volleyball at Brownsville Veteran’s Memorial High School and also for the Texas Fierce Elite volleyball club.  Armed with elite athleticism and super fast footwork, she makes the setting position look easy when most know it is one of the toughest in all of volleyball.  Her silky smooth jump set and delivery of the ball had her court coaches and all scouts singing her praise all throughout the event.  With pinpoint accuracy, she set up her hitters for success all along the net during the scrimmage portion of the showcase.  She extends her arms well during her release to deliver the ball to both pins from any location on the court.  The ball shoots out fast and clean from her mirror-image soft hands.  Sophia earned this award and we love what we saw from her.  We will definitely be watching her closely this season and you should also.  Please help us congratulate her on earning a Top Performer award at our showcase.

Saiz has been to some of our showcases before, but I think it was the first time I got to watch her in person, and I was positively impressed with what I saw. She ran a very dynamic offense and thrived with her distribution, keeping things very smooth on her side of the net. Saiz tried to speed things up when in system, but was also excellent when working with passes of the net, as, although she had to be a little more conservative, she still nailed her locations. The setter also displayed great quality playing defense in the right back position.
