Sophie’s focus for the weekend is simple. Win, have fun, and compete at a high level with her team.

Communication with her hitters is what defines her game, along with a coachability that shapes everything she does on the court. This season, she’s building stronger defense as a setter and tightening her connections with her hitters to keep the offense running smoothly.

When things get tough, she becomes the one hyping her team up, reminding her teammates how good they are and that a win is still within reach. Her work ethic is what she hopes stands out most, the effort she puts in to do right by her team every time she’s setting.

As a senior, her goal is simple: have an incredible final season and help her team make a real push in the playoffs. She’s not currently pursuing college volleyball.

Outside of volleyball, she’s a walking encyclopedia of movies and actors.

Finlinson impacts the game on both sides of the ball, combining setter responsibilities with a strong defensive presence. She records 251 assists, averages 3.3 assists per set, and adds 220 digs, showing her ability to extend rallies and keep her team in system. Finlinson has been a key contributor to the Mustangs’ offense, totaling 186 assists this season. She added 7 assists, 4 digs, and 1 kill against Marin Catholic, followed by 5 assists, 1 ace, and 1 kill versus Etiwanda, helping facilitate the team’s attack and keeping the offense flowing. Her ability to distribute effectively and contribute in multiple areas makes her a versatile and essential rotational setter for Shadow Ridge. Uncommitted

Sophie has strong footwork and delivers crisp jump sets that give hitters plenty of room to work. She’s aggressive at the net, capable of blocking, and disguises her sets well. With clean hands and a beautiful back set, she keeps the offense flowing smooth.
