About Kamilah
How would you briefly describe your gameplay style?
I was taught to play in an order. First for my team, then my coach, then my family, and myself last. I carry this as I go into each game and use it to remind myself not to play selfishly.
Can you provide a brief description of your mentality or personality?
I would say I am very energetic and aggressive on the court. I bring all the cheers and support for my team and love to celebrate. I know what’s mine to get and wont struggle with communicating the same with teammates.
Are you involved in any clubs, organizations, or have you received any non-sport awards?
Going into my junior year I am going to be a part of student council, national honors society, SOL, and the Asian student union.
What skills or qualities have you developed, such as leadership, teamwork, or community service?
I have developed the skill to persevere through tough moments and push myself physically and mentally when I think I cannot. I have also found it is more comfortable for me to fall into the leadership role. I appreciate being able to be a team captain and helping my teammates through struggles they may face.
Have you faced any significant challenges? If so, please describe.
In the 2025-2026 season I was placed into a new position and while I did well, the mental aspect was very difficult and I was often harsh on myself. Without the help of my coach and my teammates I would not have been able to overcome it and start to learn how to control my thoughts and emotions and just truly have fun.
What type of college are you looking for?
I am interested in a college that pushes me to be better not just on the court but off the court as well. I am not only concerned with winning. Whether it’s volleyball or personal I strive to grow and gain an unforgettable experience.
