About Sydny

How would you briefly describe your gameplay style?

As a player I like to be scrappy in defense and I do my very best to never let a ball drop. I try to always give my 110% with my plays. I strive to be a player that my team can look up and a player that is always uplifting and positive. I cheer on my teammates no matter if the accomplishment is big or small.

Can you provide a brief description of your mentality or personality?

Hi my name is Sydny Kawaguchi! I am a 7th grader at Pinecrest Inspirada Academy. On the court I use the next ball mentality. I used to always struggle on the court when I got into my head, but then I learned to let go of the past and focus on how to improve next time. In my free time I play soccer and hang out with friends. When I grow up, I would love to be a pediatrician.

Are you involved in any clubs, organizations, or have you received any non-sport awards?

I am involved with school volleyball and I also play soccer. I have soccer practice 2 to 3 times a week and with volleyball I have my hands full. I do my best to be a good community member by babysitting for zero cost. I am also on the A honor roll and I strive to always to the best in school.

Have you faced any significant challenges? If so, please describe.

When I was 11 years old, my dad passed away unexpectedly. This took a huge toll on my mental health but I learned a lot from it. It really showed life in a different way and made me value everyone and everything in my life so much more. My dad had always been a huge supporter of me and my volleyball career so I always play as if my dad was watching me for the last time.
