After leading her high school team Shadow Creek as a freshman and leading her club team AVA TX 15 Adidas in the first half of the club season, Mitchell earned a spot on our Watchlist. An extremely athletic player, she’s a real difference-maker at the net, who’s capable of scoring points in high volume. The outside hitter’s leaping ability stands out to anyone watching and she’s quickly learned how to make the most of the split-second of hangtime she has to scan the opposing court and make the best decisions with her shots. Mitchell, who has a very heavy right arm which she is never shy of using, is also an elite blocker, using her arms to put a lot of pressure on opposing hitters.

Mitchell was the main offensive player of her AVA TX 15 Adidas team that finished seventh with two wins and five losses. As her entire team, the outside hitter had ups and downs during the day, but was always the player her setter turned to in big moments, getting the job done more often than not. Because of her length and power, Mitchell was able to battle some really big blockers and often managed to find ways to score, be it by finding gaps or tooling them. She was targeted by opposing servers on some occasions and handled it well for the most part.

Mitchell emerged as a strong point-scorer during the high school season with Shadow Creek and raised her stock even further last month, standing out in one of our Top 250 Expos in Houston. A pin hitter with impressive athleticism, she proved to be wise beyond her years offensively, delaying her offensive approach and making excellent decisions when up at the net. Mitchell not only has the reach, but also the power to beat blockers and defenders and she’s not shy about using it to get the job done. She’s also a productive blocker, who uses her arms well to apply pressure on opposing hitters across the net. Mitchell will be in action with AVA TX 15 Adidas this weekend.

Mitchell was a good revelation with Shadow Creek in the last high school season, making it to the district’s first team as a freshman and tallying more than 300 kills and 100 digs. While her game is still a work in progress, there are signs she could develop into a high-level prospect is she continues on the same path. Mitchell is very strong offensively, getting off the floor well and using her range to score points. She also always looks very calm and relaxed on the court, which helps with her decision-making and when dealing with errors.
