About Taylor

How would you briefly describe your gameplay style?

I would describe my gameplay style as fearless and driven. As a setter I make it a priority to see the other side of the court just as well as my own. I also strive to break the stereotype that setters can't play defense. I pride myself om my ability to control the court and be someone that my team can count on at all times from anywhere on the court!

Can you provide a brief description of your mentality or personality?

I am a very driven and committed person who thrives under pressure. I often find myself uplifting my teammates and doing whatever I can to make them succeed. On the court I am whatever my team needs me to be but off the court I am incredibly kind, considerate and funny if I do say so myself!

Are you involved in any clubs, organizations, or have you received any non-sport awards?

I currently volunteer at Bakas Equestrian Center which specializes in allowing those who are handicapped to get exercise on the backs of some amazing horses. I love going because I get to see people of all ages enjoying an activity that they thought may not be possible! I also love working with the horses.

What skills or qualities have you developed, such as leadership, teamwork, or community service?

I have developed and enhanced a lot of qualities/skills through volleyball. Leadership, camaraderie and loyalty are some of the qualities participating in a team sport has taught me. I have also learned the value of hard work, consistency, dedication, confidence and bravery. Volleyball has provided the perfect backdrop for teaching me some of my hardest life lessons and how to come back stronger.

Have you faced any significant challenges? If so, please describe.

Yes, last year I switched clubs & left my friends & a team in which I was clearly the top dog to play at OTVA where I was surrounded by phenomenal players & athletes & had to earn a place on the court! I pushed past my initial fear & embraced being uncomfortable. Working through the discomfort & seeing my progress has been truly rewarding and motivation to continue to push outside my comfort zone.

What type of college are you looking for?

I am looking for a larger college that has a good Sports Management program or Sports psychology program. I am also trying to find a school that I would still love attending even if volleyball isn't in the cards. The campus, community, location, and culture will play a major role in my decision.

Her fluidity in movement and advanced hand deception made it nearly impossible for blockers to predict the direction of the set. She navigated the court like a chess master, setting clean, sharp angles in front and behind her. Her foot speed allowed her to cover large ground and still arrive balanced, delivering tempo sets across all zones.
