About Zari

How would you briefly describe your gameplay style?

Offensively, I’m focused on attacking the ball, often aiming for the back corners or open spots on the opponent’s side of the court. I work on timing my approach for powerful spikes, while being versatile enough to handle different types of sets. Defensively, I try to be quick on my feet during serve-receive. I am reliable in blocking at the net and covering tips or off speed attacks.

Can you provide a brief description of your mentality or personality?

I’m super outgoing and love having fun both on and off the court. I’m always laughing and keeping things light, and I think it’s important to keep the energy positive and upbeat. Being social is just who I am, and I love making connections with my teammates and friends. I’m kind of goofy, which helps break the tension when things get serious, but when it’s game time, I’m all in.

What skills or qualities have you developed, such as leadership, teamwork, or community service?

Over time, I’ve really developed my communication and support skills within the team. I’ve learned that being a leader isn’t just about being the best player, but also about keeping everyone’s spirits up and making sure we’re all on the same page. I’ve worked hard on being the kind of teammate who’s always encouraging others, whether we’re winning or facing a tough opponent.

Have you faced any significant challenges? If so, please describe.

Yes, one of the biggest challenges I’ve faced is comparing myself to other players. It’s easy to look at someone else’s skills and get frustrated or feel like I’m not measuring up. But over time, I’ve learned that comparison isn’t productive. I’ve focused more on my own progress and growth, setting personal goals and working hard to achieve them.

What type of college are you looking for?

I’m looking for a college that has a strong sports culture, where athletics are a big deal and there’s a lot of support for student-athletes. I want to at a school where I can really grow as a player. But it’s also super important that the school is a place where I can thrive academically and socially.
