Here are a few notables that made a big impact come tournament time on Sunday.
Champlin Park High School (MN)
Champlin Park High School has plenty of connections with the Wisconsin volleyball program with Sydney Hilley and Izzy Ashburn who will be entering their Junior and Freshman year for the Badgers. Hilley and Ashburn were a major part of Champlin Park’s state tournament runs, with Ashburn winning a state title last year with the Rebels. Despite four Division 1 players graduating the cupboard is far from bare with the likes of Jordan Stalpes (Omaha), Hannah Prasky (Augustana), Sami Hilley, and Megan Panser back for their Senior season. These athletes have been through the tight matches, the pressure of having a target on their back, and the tradition that has been built on season after season. Don’t slouch on this team as they will bring back a grit and experience of big game success for the upcoming season.

West Liberty High School (IA)
West Liberty comes out of the Iowa City area and has nearly 400 students in their high school A “small” school by most standards, especially when they are competing against high school programs from metro areas in Milwaukee, Minneapolis, Chicago, Omaha, and Kansas City. The Comets finished in the top eight with big time play from their powerful outsides in Martha Pace and Macy Daufeldt (Committed to Drake). One athlete that really lit a spark in this team out of the backrow was Monica Morales. She plays with fire, high energy, and a no fear style of play. She will be a Freshman this season. This squad definitely has the parts to make a run in the Iowa Class 3A field which is loaded with top talent from Eastern Iowa.

Omaha Duchesne (NE) (Title Photo)
This may have been one of the more balanced, high energy squads in the entire field, finishing second to Howards Grove High School in Wisconsin. A state runner-up in Nebraska in 2018, this squad is deep with Seniors and athletes who just have the volleyball IQ where they are solid in all facets of the game.
Liberty High School (MO)
Liberty High School out of MissouriLiberty High School was able to come to Madison and see one of their “famous alums” in Senior to be for Wisconsin in Madison Duello who was most recently named All American in 2018. Liberty brings a team of young talent where they have the pieces to be dangerous with pins who can put a ball away with the best of them.
Honenegah High School (IL)
Hononegah was able to bring enough athletes to split into two teams and rightfully so. After seeing this team practice Friday afternoon, there was such a balance where the drills they were executing were so clean for a team in July. This team was also missing athletes who were at college camps as well. Located South of Madison just over the Illinois/Wisconsin border, these athletes have been key parts to the success of VC United out of Rockford, Illinois and Fusion.
Quincy Notre Dame (IL)
QND has a very familiar name to Wisconsin fans in Coach Courtney Thomas, now Courtney Kvitle. Thomas is one of the top all around players to ever put on a Badger jersey as a top setter and right side, being an integral part of of the Badgers rise to one of the top programs in the country, earning multiple Big Ten and All American honors. As for Quincy Notre Dame, Sydney Hummert is one of the top players in Western Illinois and will be taking her talents to SIU-Edwardsville in the Ohio Valley Conference. She’s dynamic, long, and just makes plays happen – such an exciting player to watch.
