Continue ReadingWhat has been a shortened club volleyball season is coming to an end in Seattle but the best was arguably saved for the last with the USA Volleyball Girls Junior National Championship set to take place at the Las Vegas Convention Center from June 26-July 5.
The event is expected to attract more than 700 teams in the 15 divisions for clubs from 15s to 17s and the state of Washington will be among the participants with at least 17 teams entered to appear in the event.
Between now the stating serve on June 26, we’ll take a look in each of those teams, recapping their club season and pointing out the players you would want to follow in the tournament.
DaKine Warriors 16 Surf
One of the top teams in their age group in the region, DaKine Warriors 16 Surf will represent the DaKine Volleyball Club out of Tacoma in the 16 National division in Las Vegas. The group of players led by head coach Michael Miller has done great so far in the club season, securing 41 wins in 48 matches and victories at the PSR Regional Championship and the Power League and a second-place finish at the Pacific Northwest Qualifier.

Hailey Brockway Hailey Brockway 6'0" | OH Graham-Kapowskin | 2023 State #125 Nation WA – Outside Hitter – HS: Graham-Kapowsin – 2023
Hailey Brockway Hailey Brockway 6'0" | OH Graham-Kapowskin | 2023 State #125 Nation WA is one of the greatest talents in the entire state of Washington. A 5’11” outside hitter, she’s nearly impossible to stop at the net due to her tremendous power and consistency when hitting. She’s also an excellent passer and defender and a very good blocker, having the entire package to succeed at any level. In her first two high school seasons with Graham-Kapowsin, she registered 762 kills, 338 digs, 278 passes, 73 blocks and 34 aces.
Sophia Baugh – Setter – HS: North Kitsap – 2023
A 5’9” setter with a very clean touch on the ball, Sophia Baugh plays a pivotal role for DaKine Warriors 16 Surf. She’s a fantastic talent and excels when jump setting as she uses the strength of her lower body to be able to send the ball further and faster. She runs very efficient systems in both her club and her high school team North Kitsap, where she’s been awarded quite a few times in just two years. Baugh is also a superior defender, a skill not every setter has.
Isabella Irregui – Libero – HS: Annie Wright – 2023
Isabella Irregui provides some much-needed defensive stability for DaKine Warriors 16 Surf and frees up the team’s main hitters to focus only on the offensive duties. The 5’7” Irregui understands that very well as she plays as an outside hitter herself for her high school team Annie Wright, where she also contributes tremendously to the defensive game, having registered team-high 231 digs and 178 passes in the last high school season.
