The exciting thing about the Class of 2024 is that there’s still plenty of time to make a lot of additions to our rankings. These athletes are just beginning to hit their stride and will soon provide ample reason to update our rankings once again.
So, consider these new additions the first in a line of many for the 2024s.
Marlee Ervin Marlee Ervin 6'0" | S Ogallala | 2024 State NE – 5’11 S – Ogallala
Ervin is a long, physical setter who quickly became a leader for Ogallala in just her sophomore season. Her second-ball attacks were particularly deadly this year, and she also has a veteran feel for pace and tempo.
Isabel Hass Isabel Hass 5'4" | DS/L Guardian Angels Central Catholic | 2024 State NE – 5’4 DS/L – Guardian Angels Central Catholic
Hass has already been garnering a lot of recognition as a backcourt defender for Guardian Angels Central Catholic. She was one of the most statistically productive liberos in Nebraska this year, and her role will only continue to expand in the coming years.
Kiera Busboom Kiera Busboom 5'10" | RS Beatrice | 2024 State NE – 5’10 RS – Beatrice
This lefty opposite from Beatrice just keeps getting better. Busboom had a breakout sophomore campaign that included nearly 200 kills on a solid hitting efficiency. She will use that momentum to have another successful year in the Nebraska Juniors gym.
Aibrey Mandernach Aibrey Mandernach 6'0" | MB Kearney Catholic | 2024 State NE – 6’0 MB – Kearney Catholic
Mandernach played a pivotal part in Kearney Catholic’s run to the 2021 Class C1 title match. She has an impressive contact point when hitting in front of the setter and can even take some rips from the opposite pin. This middle blocker represents the next wave of talent that the Stars can look forward to.
Natalie Pieper Natalie Pieper 5'6" | OH Howells-Dodge | 2024 State NE – 5’6 OH – Howells-Dodge
Here’s another attacker who played on the state championship stage this year. Pieper exceeded two kills per set with Class D1 champion Howells-Dodge and added some big contributions on the defensive end. This will surely be a player to watch as the Jaguars make another run to the top next year.
Natalie Wood Natalie Wood 5'10" | MB Overton | 2024 State NE – 5’10 MB – Overton
Wood is a dominant force at the net for a team that has seen plenty of recent volleyball success. This middle blocker made a big jump between her freshman and sophomore seasons and is just beginning to show her true potential.
Morgan Glaser Morgan Glaser 6'0" | OH Papillion-La Vista | 2024 State NE – 6’0 OH – Papillion-La Vista
Glaser, along with many of Papio’s other young starters this year, had big shoes to fill. Luckily, this physical outside hitter has the talent and the drive to take over the Monarchs offense. She eclipsed the 300-kill mark this fall and will be a big factor in the future success of a storied Papillion-La Vista volleyball program.
Addison Hatcliff Addison Hatcliff 5'7" | DS/L Beatrice | 2024 State NE – 5’7 DS/L – Beatrice
Hatcliff is the second Beatrice athlete to be featured here, and there’s a good reason why she’s here. She doesn’t let the ball drop. The sophomore backcourt specialist racked up numbers that were nearly unrivaled among her 2024 peers, and her development will definitely be fun to follow.
Megyn Scott Megyn Scott 5'8" | OH Adams Central | 2024 State NE – 5’8 OH – Adams Central
There was a lot of excitement surrounding Adams Central’s trip to the state championships this year, and Scott undoubtedly played a big part in helping them get there. She’s a natural athlete on the left pin who jumps well and shows a stout overall game. It’s a great foundation to maintain this level of success next year.
Jaleigh McCartney Jaleigh McCartney 5'10" | S Chadron | 2024 State NE – 5’10 S – Chadron
We’re going way out west for the last athlete on this feature. McCartney is a setter who distributes the ball with great finesse, and it shows in the stat sheet. She was one of the 2024 leaders in assist this year and is bound for another good showing in 2022.
