We spent Sunday morning at the Houston Skyline club, which had six courts running non-stop with matches of the 15s division. We watched each of the 24 club teams that competed at the venue and are now coming back to provide our positional reports featuring the players that caught our attention.
Now it’s time to point out some of the liberos that got the job done:
Avery Pruitt Avery Pruitt 5'8" | DS/L Fulshear | 2025 State TX – Houston Skyline 15 Black – HS: Fulshear – 2025
Avery Pruitt Avery Pruitt 5'8" | DS/L Fulshear | 2025 State TX not always plays libero for her team Skyline 15 Black, but when she does, she gets the job done at the backcourt. The 5’8” Pruitt is an excellent passer, positively impacting the team’s offense with her game. She has outstanding ball control and also does really well when asked to set in transition. Pruitt also has natural leadership traits and is very positive on the court the entire time. She tallied 132 digs, 205 passes and 48 aces in her freshman high school season with Fulshear.
Gabriella Gaines – AVA TX 15 Adidas – HS: Clear Springs – 2025
Gabriella Gaines is impressively quick on the backcourt. The 5’3” defender floats through the court with ease and gets to touch in a lot of balls on defense because of her excellent reading of the game. She’s also capable of taking up a lot of space in serve-receiving, freeing her outside hitters to focus on siding out. Gaines does a great job in tracking plays and gets to recover a lot of balls during matches because of that.
Genevieve Meagher – HOU Stars 15 – 2025
Genevieve Meagher works hard to keep things under control in HOU Stars 15’s backcourt. She’s extremely efficient and consistent in what she does, giving her teammates a lot of confidence. Meagher has excellent positioning and is always ready to keep the ball in play. She’s also a very good server.
Rylie Creenshaw – TAV Houston 15 Adidas – HS: Brazos Valley – 2024
Rylie Creenshaw checks all the boxes when it comes to having the skills an elite libero would want. She’s quick on the backcourt and very technical when on the ball. Her passing is impressively accurate and puts the team’s offensive system in motion. The 5’5” Creenshaw also has excellent positioning and no shortage of confidence. A very good server too, she made a huge impact in her high school team Brazos Volley as a sophomore, producing 498 digs, 276 passes and 60 aces.
Celia Gafka – GCVA 151 Coast – HS: Clear Lake – 2025
Celia Gafka gets to share the court with her twin sister Sadie at the club and high school levels and also in beach volleyball tournaments they play at. The Gulf Coast Volleyball Association libero has excellent technique and amazing ball control, skills that make of her an elite defender. She’s also a very good passer and get the job done when asked to set in transition.
Jade Romero – Texas One – 15 Royal – 2025
Jade Romero is Texas One – 15 Royal’s pillar when it comes to serve-receiving. She does a great job in taking responsibility for delivering the ball to the setter’s hands and maintains impressive consistency and focus throughout entire matches. Romero is very quick too and a very good defender.
