Houston Area HS Team to Watch: Fulshear

The high school volleyball season is about to start in the Lone Star State, and we at Prep Dig Texas can't wait to get back to the exciting routine of being out there multiple times a week and checking out how teams and players progress as the season unfolds.   Like the past years, we'll continue to provide the best coverage of the high school season in the Houston area and beyond, featuring weekly previews, match reports, standout reviews, photo galleries and social media posts, and giving the talented prospects in our state the exposure they deserve.   Before the season gets underway, we'd like to feature some teams from the Houston area we believe have the potential to have incredible seasons.   <h2 class="wp-block-heading">Fulshear</h2>   The Fulshear Chargers had a 34-11 record and won District 20 last season before going down to Dawson in the Regional Semifinals. Now moved into District 23, they will continue to rely on the strong core formed by junior outside hitter [player_tooltip player_id='694200' first='Jada' last='Skinner'], senior middles [player_tooltip player_id='1014717' first='Shayne' last='Voskuhl'] and [player_tooltip player_id='438670' first='Arayah' last='Watson'] and senior setter/right side [player_tooltip player_id='534407' first='Reina' last='Jones'] to be competitive at a higher level. The Charges have some other interesting pieces in senior setter Peyton Nedd, junior right side [player_tooltip player_id='931029' first='Kobi' last='Ezebuilo'], junior libero Avery Fajardo and senior libero Madelyn Schultz and will have a couple of interesting additions in freshmen Bryanna Goodwin (outside hitter) and [player_tooltip player_id='1001606' first='Mackenzie' last='Polasek'] (setter).   Key Players    The junior outside hitter was Fulshear's top scorer last season and will have an even bigger role in their offense in the upcoming season. A very dynamic and consistent offensive player, Skinner can score at a very high clip, making great use of her athleticism and firepower to beat blockers and defenders. The pin hitter also stands out for her shot selection, not only keeping her errors very low but also managing to find solutions to out-of-system plays. Skinner serves aggressively and also delivers in serve-receive and defense, showing superior agility and ball control in the back row.      The senior middle offers a strong presence at the net for the Chargers, playing with great intensity and efficiency. Voskuhl's blocking is elite and she makes a big defensive impact for them, moving very well at the net, going up very high and aggressively placing her arms to stop opponents. Besides getting several stops each match, she often manages to get in the way of opposing hitters in key moments, giving her team an edge when it matters. Voskuhl's offense continues to develop and is another weapon for the team, as she makes the most of her athleticism and can be very difficult to stop when she gets into a rhythm.      The senior makes an impact on the right side for Fulshear, performing her setting and hitting duties at a very high level. Jones' playmaking makes the most of the team's many offensive options, as she distributes the ball intelligently and thrives by keeping the balance between them. The six-foot-tall, left-handed Jones is also a solid scorer herself, making great use of her length and showing excellent decision-making up at the net. A solid server, she also has a strong blocking presence, using her long arms and excellent positioning to shut opponents down at the pin.
