Mattes plays for the Class AAAA State Runner-up, East Ridge. While East Ridge will graduate All-State heavy hitters Britt Carlson and Camryn Greenwald, they are returning a solid first contact in Ellenor Crimmins Ellenor Crimmins 5’6″ | DS/L East Ridge | 2023 State MN and Giselle Thao Giselle Thao 5’1″ | DS/L East Ridge | 2024 State MN . Their second contact also returns with Macey Spolidoro Macey Spolidoro 5’10” | S East Ridge | 2024 State MN . Mattes has a pretty great opportunity to work into a high octane offense with Kelby Opland Kelby Opland 6’0″ | MB East Ridge | 2023 State MN , Mikayla McDougall Mikayla McDougall 6’0″ | OH East Ridge | 2023 State MN , and Hadley Burger Hadley Burger 6’0″ | RS East Ridge | 2024 State MN and make another run for the X.
Alexandria has a successful program, and it could just get better if they build around the bright potential of setter/right side hitter Addison Rossum Addison Rossum 5’11” | S Alexandria | 2025 State MN . They have been blessed with studly setters in the past. Rossum is an adaptable player who can fill a number of roles. She can take a hard swing with the best of them, put up the big block, or dish to the hot hands. Whatever is needed, she will do.

Gilk is a dynamic left-handed athlete who works through just about every position and is a serious all-around player. She reads well on defense and works hard in transition to be available for her setter in every rally. Gilk can terminate from anywhere along the net and is a great communicator helping her teammates with guidance on what is open.

Schmidt, Addison Mattes Addison Mattes 6’3″ | MB East Ridge | 2025 State MN , and Natalie Ptacek team up to make a really deadly trio coming out of the middle for Northern Lights. With Kendal Kemp graduating for Eagan ‘ last=”]’ last=”]’ last=”], Schmidt will have an opportunity for a bigger role. Eagan ‘ last=”]’ last=”]’ last=”] does return a couple other big arms in Kaitlyn Sellner Kaitlyn Sellner 6’1″ | MB Eagan | 2023 State MN and Ava Della Vedova Ava Della Vedova 6’2″ | MB Eagan | 2024 State MN ; and if they can get all three involved, it could result in some huge win totals in 2022. Schmidt just kept getting better over club season, whether it was her foot speed, timing, or placement with her attack.
Bettis is a DI prospect with some length and an explosive vertical. She gets a high contact point with the ball so that when you combine it with her fast arm swing, you start to see her ball land well before she does. Bettis and 2023 Kiylah Franke Kiylah Franke 5’10” | S Burnsville | 2023 State MN should provide a potent 1-2 punch again this fall. With Corrina Benson Corrina Benson 5’7″ | DS/L Burnsville | 2023 State MN taking the first contact and Julia Valois feeding the hitters, I would not be surprised to see Burnville’s stats explode this fall. In her freshman season, Bettis finished the 2021 season with 192 kills.

Weaver is a solid 6-rotation player, and I would totally bet she gets at least 250 kills and digs this fall. She was dubbed Captain America for her NL Lights team because of her natural gravitation to do whatever she could to help her team. Weaver is a solid prospect and likely to keep improving her play with 3 more high school seasons in her future.
